Recently, Berkshire Bloggers attended a press event for the new festive menu launch at The Ferry in Cookham. The pub is a lovely environment to wine and dine as it’s set in a beautiful location right on the Thames – a perfect setting for a relaxed evening. The place is rather homely looking with a log fire at the entrance and the restaurant itself has been lit up with Christmas decorations to add that extra sparkle.
We were seated upstairs away from the kitchen in a very relaxed atmosphere, which instantly set us up for a nice quiet evening. The staff were delightful and made the night rather pleasant.
We were then treated to a three-course meal from their festive menu and a
round of drinks. Starting off with cocktails, we tried the Pornstar Martini with a little twist as this one had a touch of cinnamon for that extra Christmas spice. We also tried their new festive Sipsmith Bramble Royale – a spiced bramble gin topped with prosecco.
Then it was time for starters, and we opted for the Roasted Tomato Soup and Deep-fried Brie, and from this we could already tell portion sizes were going to be on the generous side.
For mains we of course, had to go for tradition and went for the Roasted Turkey with fluffy beef-dripping roasted potatoes and all the trimmings. This was our first Turkey dinner of the festive period and it went off to a great start as it was delicious.
Finally, it was time for dessert – which we barely had room for, but you simply can’t skip dessert, right? We couldn’t resist the Apple and Plum Crumble and the Indulgent Warm Chocolate Brownie with honeycomb ice cream – indulgent indeed!
Our taste buds satisfied and our stomachs full to the brim, I don’t think we could have asked for more during our visit.
